Position: Running Back
Size and Speed: Floyd stands 5-foot-11, weighs 185 pounds and runs the 40 in 4.5. He is a hard worker who benches 265, squats 420 and cleans 255. This talented all-around athlete also has recorded a 34 vertical jump.
Honors: Floyd was selected all-CIF (Division II), all-area and all-league for his junior season performance.
Statistics: Floyd rushed for 1,420 yards and 14 touchdowns. Floyd is the complete back. He can catch, block, run and he’s not a bad passer either. Floyd caught 17 passes for around 200 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Favorite Colleges: Floyd has offers from Colorado, Kansas, Wake Forest and UConn. He is getting recruiting attention from UCLA, Oregon, Texas and many schools from Mountain West and the WAC.
Skinny: Floyd already has offers on the table and after seeing him on tape there is no doubt to the reason why. Floyd is another fine running back in a long line of D-I running backs from Claremont high.
“Jamaal compares with all the great ones we have had,” Claremont head coach Mike Collins said. “He has speed and the elusiveness of Dion Burnett (UNLV) and the shear power of Tristan Walker (Colorado State).”
As a runner, Floyd is very explosive and has great vision. One thing that is obvious is he has the speed to break the long one and the power break tackles.
Floyd is a very physical runner who doesn’t shy from contact. The defense that has to tackle Floyd better pack a lunch because it’s going to be a long day at the office for them. He’s a punishing runner with breakaway speed. One thing that tape will show you is Floyd runs hard whistle-to-whistle.
“The offers for Jamaal started to come in when our tapes went out,” Collins said. “We expect even more offers for Jamaal now that May has rolled around.”
