Cincinnati has an edge for Jones

For Cincinnati (Ohio) Colerain athlete Deshaunte Jones, the best college option may be in his own backyard.

"I get to go down to UC more than any other school and I have a good relationship with the coaches," Jones said. "They really want me there and are recruiting me the hardest, so I have a lot of interest in UC."
Cincinnati joins close to a dozen other schools on Jones' offer list. His close proximity to their campus allowed the two-star prospect to make a recent game visit.
"I went to the Cincinnati-Miami game this past Thursday," Jones said. "It was a really good atmosphere and they played a really good team. It was just a good win for them and their program."
Jones plays quarterback for his Colerain team, but Cincinnati is recruiting him as an athlete with a focus on slot receiver.
"I think it fits because it puts me in a position where I can get the ball a lot," Jones said. "So, it's a good offense for me because I'll be able to get the ball out in space and that's what I do best."
Before he renders his college decision, Jones wants to get out and compare the game atmospheres at other schools that have offered.
"I think I am going to a couple more, like a West Virginia game and a Louisville game, but I don't have the dates set yet," Jones said. "I think it is good just to get away and go to different colleges just to see the different atmospheres and competition level."
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Jones has led Colerain to a 5-1 record this season. So far on the year he has 12 rushing touchdowns, five passing touchdowns and close to 800 rushing yards.
