Cincinnati among new offers for Johnson

Southfield, Mich., safety Dior Johnson has nearly doubled his offer list since winning defensive back MVP honors at the Detroit Rivals Camp last month.
Johnson's first six offers came from Mid-American Conference schools, but he added his first non-MAC offer in the last few days from Cincinnati.

"Cincinnati came, I want to say, about two days ago," Johnson said. "That kind of was a big offer. I had been talking to Coach (Steve) Clinkscale and they came through on the offer and I was real excited.
"He'd been telling me they want to get me up to campus and hopefully I can get up there June 6. I really have to get up to campus and check out the coaches. Coach Clinkscale is a pretty nice guy and he knows what he is talking about. I just want to check out the other coaches and see how they are."
Johnson's familiarity with Cincinnati at this time is limited, but Southfield has sent players to the school in the past.
"One of our DBs from Southfield went there and he's still there - Leviticus Payne," Johnson said. "I know of him, but I don't know him like that. When I had gotten to Southfield my freshman year he was leaving."
The six schools that had offered prior to Cincinnati are Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Western Michigan. Johnson does not plan to drag his recruitment out long.
"Recruiting right now is going good, but hopefully I will be making my decision soon," Johnson said. "Before Cincinnati offered I was looking to make my commitment after the camp season is over. Right now it is probably the same - after camp season - but it could be before camp season, I don't know yet."
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Johnson is planning to join several teammates on a camp tour to ACC schools that starts June 14 and includes stops at Duke, N.C. State, North Carolina and Wake Forest.
