Church pulls the trigger

Pittsburgh (Pa.) Penn Hills defensive back Barry Church had plenty of scholarship offers to choose from. After making official visits to Cincinnati Dec. 2 and Toledo Dec. 9, Church has made his decision.
"I committed to Toledo," he said. "I want to start as a true freshman and I think I have the best chance there. I'll have the best chance to become a star there."

Church said Cincinnati was his second choice followed by West Virginia. He said both offered a scholarship as did Iowa, Indiana, and others.
But Church felt Toledo had too much to pass up.
"The coaches are real good," he said. "They have a real good sports medicine program, which I plan to go into."
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound Church made 80 tackles including eight sacks during his senior season. He intercepted three passes. Church played both strong safety and linebacker, but will be a strong safety at Toledo.
