Christian talks Tulsa, SMU, Utah

Decatur (Texas) wide receiver Brian Christian is still waiting on a first scholarship offer, but three schools continue to show a lot of interest.
“I’ve been talking a lot with Tulsa, SMU and Utah,” Christian said. “Tulsa had a couple of coaches come and watch my game, and I really like their town and their facilities and offense there. It’s really cool how Utah is No. 9 in the country right now, and I love how they throw the ball a ton, like our offense does. SMU is nice because it’s close to home, only like an hour-and-a-half away.”

While he has yet to claim a leader, Christian says that he anticipates visiting all three schools, which could help him decide on his eventual destination.
“Tulsa wants me to come to a game,” he said. “I’d also like to go to Utah, but I’m too busy in the season to set up any visits right now. After the season I’ll go on them. I play basketball, too, but that’s not nearly as time-consuming as football, so it should make things a lot easier.”
With 50 catches for 991 yards, Christian has also refined his knack for big catches, surpassing his touchdown total of a year ago. He had 13 touchdowns in 12 games last year and has 14 already this year. Christian has also filled in at safety, where he claims to have racked up around 30 tackles.
“I’m able to catch the ball on short routes and do what I want with it,” Christian said. “It’s been good for me so far this year, and there are no real egos or individual leaders on our team. We all understand what our job is.”
