Chris Ellis Announces

Hampton (Va.) Bethel defensive end Chris Ellis has made his decision. So where will he play his college football?
"I committed to Virginia Tech," said the 6-foot-5, 230-pounder. "It came down to Virginia and Virginia Tech and I went with my gut. I sat down and did a checklist and it came out even -- 50/50. I decided to go with my gut feeling and commit to Tech."

Ellis was also considering Maryland and Tennessee.
"They're both good schools," he said. "I really liked my visits to both places, but I felt I wanted to play in my home state. I really could picture myself in UVA's 3-4 defense, but everything about Tech felt right. I like the defense, I like the players and the tradition of the defense is great. I told them to get a jersey ready for me, I can't wait to get started."
Ellis said that Jimmy Williams, his former teammate and one of his best friends (and a Hokie freshman safety), had nothing to do with his decision.
"I wouldn't pick a school for that reason," he said. "Tech has so much more to offer."
