Chilo Rachal: Back From Washington

Compton (Calif.) Dominguez offensive lineman and USC commit Chilo Rachal visited Washington this past weekend and said the Huskies have given him a lot to think about. Rachal will likely take one more visit and then make a final decision between his final three schools.
“I’m not going to lie, I had an incredible time,” Rachal said. “I felt so comfortable there and that’s one of the main things I’m looking for, just being happy where I’m at. The players and coaches were all great with me and I loved the city of Seattle. Washington is just a great place period. They don’t have the same kind of football program as USC but football isn’t everything to me.

“All the players there really bonded well. Me, Thomas (Herring) and Lawrence (Miles) hung out together the whole time and really liked it. At the basketball game, I was sitting with Matt Tuiasosopo and his brother Zach and they were just telling me how they were happy where they were at and talked about how the coaches there care about the players first as people more than just as an athlete. It was a great experience, no doubt.
“This weekend I’m going to UCLA and that will probably be it for me. It’s just those three schools now although Cal is still working me hard to get a visit and I could do that but I’m not sure. I think I’m about ready to end this thing. Oregon is definitely out, they called and said they weren’t sure about offering me and wanted to watch more film. After I visit UCLA, I think I’ll be ready to decide. They’re playing Arizona in basketball that weekend so it should be fun. Once I scored a 900 on the SAT, they started showing more interest in me and I really like John Embree a lot. We’ll just see what happens.”
