Childs to announce on Monday

Los Alamitos (Calif.) wide out Jeremy Childs came close to committing to UCLA back in the summer when the Bruins first offered a scholarship. He decided to hold off on making his decision until he took his official visit to Westwood this past weekend.
"I'm going to commit to UCLA tomorrow," Childs said. "The trip was wonderful, that's really all I can say, I loved everything about it. Marcus Everett was my host and he's just a great guy and it was fun hanging out with him. I knew him a little before because he's Desean's (Jackson) cousin but we really bonded well on the visit.

"We did the usual things, campus tour, saw the facilities but the basketball game was tight. It was intense but they pulled it out in the end. It was a fun atmosphere there and UCLA just feels like home to me. We watched the team practice and then went out again last night. I know it's been the place for me and there is no need for me to take any other visits."
So why didn't Childs commit on the visit?
"I just figured it would be cool to commit when Ben (Olson) does," Childs said. "When he saw me at the basketball game, he asked me if I was coming and I said I was and he told me he was too but was going to do it on Monday. It just seems like a good idea. I mean, I was going to UCLA with or without Ben but I think it would be cool to give the coaches a couple of early Christmas presents on the same day."
Childs had earlier visited Arizona State and was scheduled to trip to Oregon (Jan. 7) but will no longer make that visit.
