Childs set for official visit No. 1

Los Alamitos (Calif.) wide out Jeremy Childs is having another all-state season after earning all-state underclass honors the past two years including state sophomore of the year two years ago. The talented athlete has set his first official visit and will be hitting the recruiting trail this weekend.
Childs, 6-0, 180 pounds was having a solid season the first half of the year but has taken his game to a different level the last two weeks. Three weeks ago in the Griffins biggest game of the year, Childs caught a school record 16 balls for 158 yards and two touchdowns including the game winner in double overtime to seal the win. Childs caught three more touchdowns this past weekend and now has 14 on the season.

On the recruiting front, Childs has the same four schools leading the way and will visit one of them this weekend.
“I’m going to Arizona State this weekend,” Childs said. “I just set it up and I’m looking forward to that. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the school and everyone I know who has visited there said they absolutely loved it.
“That’s the only trip I have set but I also want to visit Oregon, Arizona and UCLA. I don’t have any of the dates set but I’m pretty sure I’ll visit UCLA the week they play USC. Oregon has a lot to offer and I like the offense and Arizona has been recruiting me hard and one of my teammates from last year, Antoine Cason, is starting and doing really well for them.
“UCLA is probably my leader right now. There was a period there where I wasn’t hearing much from them but they’ve been recruiting me real hard the past few weeks. I just talked to them about five minutes ago in fact so everything is cool there. I don’t really have a time frame of when I’ll make my decision but it will probably be after my last visit whenever that is.”
