Childs makes his decision

As he said he would do on Sunday, Los Alamitos (Calif.) wide out Jeremy Childs has ended his recruiting process and committed to UCLA.
"I just wanted to be sure of everything at UCLA and the trip solidified everything for me," Childs said. "On the visit, some of the coaches were just joking around and saying, 'haven't you seen enough yet, are you ready to come here yet.' The trip was great and before I left, I told the coaches I would likely do something today.

"I just called Don Johnson and left him a message telling him I was committing and I'll probably call Coach Dorrell later as well. I'm relieved it's over for me, the process was cool and I enjoyed talking to these schools but I'm happy to have this out of the way and I'm excited to be a Bruin."
In addition to UCLA, Childs visited Arizona State and also had offers from Oregon, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon and Oregon State. Academically, the athlete is carrying a 3.0 GPA and just recently took the SAT.
"I'm just waiting for my results but I know I did well on it," Childs said. "I took the PSAT my sophomore year and did fine so I know I'll get a good score. I'm just going to work hard and hopefully put myself in a position where I can make some plays for the team next season. They lose Bragg and Perry so I think there's a spot for me in there somewhere."
