Chase Branch looking in-state

Chase Branch was stuck with some early season bad luck, including a broken foot. Still, the San Antonio (Texas) Reagan High safety has bounced back to put together a successful senior season and some interest from some in-state teams.
“Things have been going pretty well since coming back from breaking my foot,” Branch said. “I talk to Coach Nelson at Baylor, and I love the facilities there. There’s always a good crows at their games no matter how they’re doing, and I have a friend, Nathaniel Mock, who is a walk-on cornerback there. It’d be nice to meet back up with him.

“I’ve also been talking to North Texas and Midwestern,” he said. “Coach Russell at North Texas is really nice, and I like how they’re building a whole new facility and getting better as a program each year. Midwestern also has a great atmosphere, which is really nice.”
With one unofficial visit under his belt, Branch anticipates making another couple unofficial visits, with potential for official visits after.
“I saw the Baylor – Missouri game and talked to the coaches there on the field afterwards,” Branch said. “I’m trying to find time to see a North Texas game, and I’m hoping to go up for the Baylor – OU game, too. That should be fun. I’ll probably take official visits after that, but that’s after the season.”
After his foot injury one had to wonder how long it would take Branch to recover, let alone return to game action. His recovery was swift, however, and he said he feels that each week gets him closer to being completely healthy again.
“I’m still trying to build strength for my plants,” Branch said. “But I’m doing all right and getting better each week. I’m a very aggressive player, motivated, and I never quit, so I think that helps. On the field I try to help other people, tell them to keep their heads up. I’m a little like John Lynch [Denver Broncos safety] that way; he’s real aggressive, loves to hit people and is really smart.”
