Charlottesville CB hoping to get noticed

Charlottesville, Va., cornerback prospect Brandon Turner has put up good numbers over the last two years, but has not received the attention he had wanted at this stage of the season. At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Turner runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and names five schools he is hoping will take notice of him soon.
“I don’t have any offers yet, but if I had to choose a top five, it would be UVA, Duke, UNC , Maryland, and NC State, in no order. What is it about these schools?

“I like the coaches at Virginia, and the players are very cool and down to earth. They have a good academic program, and the football program is on the rise. I just like the football program at Maryland.
“North Carolina, NC State, and Duke, they are all keeping in contact with me. I actually think I have a chance at getting an offer from Duke if I continue to play well this season.
“My dad said Duke called, but I wasn’t home. I’m sure more schools have called but I’m never home. I’m either at practice or work.” Turner hopes he doesn’t get lost in the shuffle and hopes that college recruiters notice his perseverance.
“I am going to give 100% every game and focus on having a good season and pray that someone notices my hard work,” he said.
Brandon hasn’t taken any official visits, but has attended all of the Virginia home games with Charlottesville teammate Devonta Brown, unofficially. He was not able to attend any camps over the summer, and feels that may have affected the interest he is receiving.
“I really think that hurt my chances of getting any early offers,” he explained. “Especially UVA.”
Turner was named to the first team all-district team and the second team all-central Virginia team last year after averaging nearly 10 tackles per game and recording three interceptions. Through four games this year he is averaging five tackles a game, with four pass deflections, and also caught a pass for 30 yards. He has not given up a pass in man coverage, and has only allowed one while playing zone.
Turner maintains a “B” average, and although he has already scored a qualifying SAT score, he plans to retake the exam. He plans to major in business management or something dealing with computers.
