Charles likes Buffs, then KSU, AM

Keller, Texas running back Hugh Charles has three schools at the top of his list as his high school team opens practice.

“We opened up today,” the 5-foot-7, 182-pound Charles said. “We were just in helmets and shorts. No pads yet. When the other schools start classes we will be allowed to go with pads. We started classes last week and most schools start next Monday.”
While Keller opening practices gives Charles his final opportunity to showcase his skills, many college recruiters already know what he brings to the table.
“Colorado, Kansas State and Texas A&M are my top three schools,” the three-star rated all-purpose back said. “A&M is the only one of the three that hasn’t offered me a scholarship yet.”
Charles is hoping to play his college football outside the state of Texas.
“I really want to leave Texas, but if it doesn’t work out, that’s not a big deal. I have been talking to the coaches at Colorado. My plan is to get up there for their game against Colorado State at Mile High Stadium. Right now, I would call Colorado the favorite.”
While the Buffs are at the top, don’t count out their Big 12 North foe, Kansas State.
“Kansas State is a school I don’t know too much about,” Charles said. “I know I want to go and check it out. I know some stuff about them from reading the information they have sent me. Each year they win a lot of games, so that is very nice and would be good to be a part of.”
Charles wants to find a school he is comfortable with, and then make a decision.
“If I get somewhere and it feels like the right spot, then I probably would go ahead and pick it.”
