Chapple drawing more interest

Edwardsville, Ill., defensive end Desmond Chapple is coming off a strong senior season that is drawing more interest for the 6-foot-5, 235-pound prospect.

"Indiana, they actually told me they will give me a call back next week," Chapple said. "At Maryland I talk to their d-line coach, but they are having coaching staff issues up there so he said he would get back to me on that. I recently have been talking to a Penn State coach."
Chapple does hold six offers, including one from Power Five program Pittsburgh. He plans to give schools considering an offer plenty of time to evaluate him, though.
"I don't plan on committing any time soon," Chapple said. "I will probably wait until (after the New Year)."
Pittsburgh hosted Chapple for an unofficial visit earlier this month and he plans to return to their campus for an official visit this winter.
"I know they said Dec. 11-13, but I take the ACT on the 12th, so I don't think that could work," Chapple said. "Most likely it will be in January, but I'll still attempt to get one in early December.
"I went to their game against Notre Dame two or three weeks ago. That was one of their most sold-out games in the history of Heinz Field, so it was cool to be a part of that. I liked the facilities and I learned they share everything with the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's pretty cool to see a pro team in your everyday routine. I find that inspiring, to be honest."
Northern Iowa and Ball State are also likely to host Chapple for official visits. He is coming off a senior season in which he recorded 38 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, four forced fumbles and a blocked punt.
