Chapel Hill ATH one to watch in 2010

Versatile athlete Shaynon Peppers may attend a high school in the University of North Carolina's backyard but the talented rising junior grew up a fan of another program.
The 6-foot, 187-pound prospect from Chapel Hill, N.C. said he has a clear leader and is hoping to hear from them as time goes on.

"I really like Tennessee," Peppers said. "I mean, I just always liked the SEC. I'm kind of a country boy and some of my family is in Tennessee. I went to the campus and really liked it."
While Peppers has not heard from the Vols he has received mail and camp information from East Carolina, Maryland, Georgia and Florida.
"Most of my plans are just mainly with the school this summer," he explained. "Whatever camps we have with the school, that's what I'll be doing. We've been in the weight room and we've done some 7-on-7's at random high schools. We're about to go to Elon for one.
"I'm working on my speed and my quickness, as far as lateral movement and things like that. I'm working on just being more aware. Since I played varsity last year I'm just trying to learn everything. I'm trying to learn what to do based on what the offense is trying to do."
Peppers does plan on taking some unofficial visits this fall but is unsure of what schools he will go to.
He said he believes he will be recruited as either a safety or a running back.
As a sophomore at Chapel Hill, Peppers had 306 rushing yards with eight touchdowns. On defense he was more active, recording 60 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two pass deflections and recovering two fumbles.
