Change of plans for Vincent Joseph

Originally the plan for Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back Vincent Joseph was to announce his college choice during the CaliFlorida Bowl game on Saturday with Oregon the clear leader for his services. Well much has changed in the last couple of weeks and a decision doesn't appear as imminent as it once did.
Joseph, 5-9, 180 pounds had a strong opening practice for the CaliFlorida Bowl earlier today. The lightning fast corner had a pick for a touchdown and looked very good in man coverage all day long.

Things appeared about done recruiting wise for Joseph just a month ago and we thought he was all sewn up for Oregon.
"I'm not sure about Oregon any more," Joseph said. "In the last couple of weeks, I know they've gotten commitments from like five or six corners including three JC kids. "I talked to Coach Campbell and he said they still want me and have room for me but I don't about them any more. I loved my visit and I'm not afraid of competition but that's a lot of defensive backs to bring in and plus I hear they lead for Devin Ross too so right now, I'm really looking at Washington State and USC."
After saying USC was out the last time we talked with Joseph because the Trojans hadn't been recruiting him much the past month, they're back in the picture.
"USC called me last week before the dead period and gave me a verbal offer over the phone," Joseph said. "I haven't gotten anything in writing yet but they told me not to worry about it. I've always loved USC so when they came knocking, it's tough to not look hard at them.
"I really like Washington State too. I had a great trip there and they have a good history of putting defensive backs in to the league. I like their coaching staff a lot and I'm really going to give them a hard look. Right now, I'm just going to wait a little bit longer before I make a decision. Oregon is definitely not out but my top two are USC and Washington State right now."
