Change of plans for Childs

Just a week ago, Los Alamitos (Calif.) wide out Jeremy Childs said he was close to ending the recruiting process and would likely commit to UCLA later this week. That decision has now been put on hold and Childs said he will take at least a few of his official visits before making a decision.
"I had a good talk with my family this week and we all decided it was just best to wait," Childs said. "UCLA is still my leader and where I think I'll end up but we felt it was too early to close the door on this right now. I just didn't want to lock myself in this early and even though I know it's just a verbal, once I commit, that's it for me. Plus I know the other teams recruiting me will back off once I'm commit so I just want to go through the process a little more.

"It's nothing at all against UCLA, like I said, they're still my leader, but I just want to watch them a little bit this year and also I think it would be fun to take some visits. Notre Dame, Arizona State, Florida and Arizona along with UCLA are the schools I want to visit. All but Notre Dame and Florida have offered but I am hearing from both of those schools right now."
Childs and his Los Al squad will play against Dos Pueblos this Friday and then have a huge showdown with No. 3 nationally ranked Mission Viejo a week from today (Sept. 9.).
