Central Texas team led by quarterback

Watch out for Robinson, Texas prospects who are turning heads and on the rise as the recruiting heats up for the class of 2007. It all starts with the quarterback leading the way, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound elite player Randy Kitchens.
Robinson coach Brian Lewis says that his quarterback along with wide receiver B.J. Lewis should be two very heavily sought after prospects.

"Well when we got to Robinson as a coaching staff, Randy was a freshman and we knew eventually he was going to be a quarterback," Kitchens said. "Offensive lineman wise we were not ready to give him the protection he needed to be successful. So, we put him in to start as a sophomore."
Lewis says that there is no question which spot his signal caller should be playing at the Division I level.
"He's a definite quarterback type standing all of 6-foot-3, 195 pounds," Lewis says. "He's also running a 4.7-second 40-yard dash. Randy is a leader on the field even though he doesn't verbalize that a lot. He's not a raw-raw type of guy. He just gets out there and leads by example."
While his coach sees himself being quite successful in a wide-open passing attack, he says that any offense will be lead well by Kitchens.
"He's got all of the intangibles with him being athletic, but when he's out there it's like having a coach on the field," Lewis said. "It's just easy to communicate with him as a coach because he understands better than average high school players."
Kitchens has the honors to back up his big play. He was co-offensive MVP of the district as a junior, part of the Super CenTex team during that year, and reeled in Super CenTex newcomer of the year as a sophomore.
"There is so much upside to him because he's also a starter on the basketball team where he was Super CenTex newcomer last year in that sport," Kitchens said. "He plays baseball and then also runs track. It's not just playing, but excelling at each one."
Kitchens has been to Texas A&M a couple of times on unofficial visits. That is one team that is showing heavy loads of attention.
"A&M is on him big, but he gets letters from all over," Lewis said about Kitchens. "I've got tons of letters on my desk from Miami, LSU, Oklahoma State, UCLA, and a bunch of others. There isn't a solid written offer out there just yet."
Lewis says his quarterback will make it to as many camps as he can go to this summer. His wide receiver target B.J. Lewis is also drawing big attention.
"He's about 6-foot, 180 pounds and he runs in the 4.5-second range," Lewis said about his wide receiver. "He's the kind of kid you can throw the jump ball to because he's got great hands. He's basketball and baseball player, so he's a three-sport kid as well."
"He's got a lot of upside."
Texas A&M is also showing interest in the wide receiver. At the end of January, he took an unofficial visit down there.
"Like Randy, they're really showing the most interest in him," Lewis said. "He gets letters from Oklahoma State too and should really be getting some big stuff."
