CB Edwards land first offer

Woodbridge (Va.) Woodbridge Senior cornerback Evrett Edwards landed his first offer earlier this evening. The scholarship for the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder came from the Big Ten.
"I just got off the phone with Illinois," he said. "They said they wanted to offer me and they wanted to make it official. They wanted to know when I'm going up there to take an unofficial visit and they also wanted to know when I'll have my decision, or my timeframe for when I'm deciding what school I want to go to."

What does he think of landing his first offer?
"It made my day," he said. "I had a really good day and I was praying hard about it. It was nice to see that my hard work finally comes through and that God answered my prayers. I'm thankful for that and for my parents pushing me to get me where I'm at now."
Specifically relating to the Illini, he gave his take.
"They are Big Ten football and on TV every week," he said. "I think I'd be a good fit there. The Big Ten is bigger, but usually bigger and slower. I think I could bring a lot to the table with my size and speed."
Edwards is planning to visit Virginia this weekend followed by Duke sometime soon.
"Duke is talking about offering," he said. "I'm going to Virginia this weekend and Coach Poindexter is talking about possibly offering me too."
