Cavs, Terps eye Georgia LB

Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview linebacker Demetrice Alexander is one of three players from the perennial powerhouse drawing heavy recruiting attention this spring.
“There’s been a lot of people come through to see us,” said Alexander in reference to himself and teammates Brad Lester and Greg Suddereth. “Auburn, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia and Navy have all come by recently.

“I liked the Virginia coach a lot. It was Bobby Ross’s son, their running backs coach. Mike London has been my recruiting coach, so this was the second person I’ve got to talk to from Virginia. He left a real good impression on me.
“I like Maryland a lot, too. They’ve been one of the new schools sending me stuff – them and Kentucky – but I like what I’ve heard so far.”
Coming off a junior season which saw him record 124 tackles and six sacks, Alexander (6-0, 215, 4.55) is also receiving attention from Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, Florida State, Michigan and Indiana, among others.
He said there’s been a misperception that he’s a heavy lean to Georgia. “A lot of people assume they’re my favorite and put them down No. 1 on my list, but they’re not. I just haven’t received that much interest yet from them, so I’m looking at the schools who are really showing me that they want me.”
Alexander will take part in the Nike camp at Auburn on Sunday. He said he has yet to make his summer camp plans, but will have them ready in the near future.
