Cavs pull regional lineman

Mike London and Virginia picked up a pledge earlier this evening, the eighth of his first recruiting class. Who's the latest pledge for the Cavaliers?
"I just committed tonight, about 30 minutes ago," Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha offensive tackle Kelby Johnson said. "Coach said he was really excited and the whole coaching staff was excited. They like me a whole lot."

Virginia was one of two scholarships for the lineman to date along with New Mexico. He discussed what made him decide now.
"Oh man, the program and the way their linemen and offensive line is," he said. "I like the atmosphere on campus and I was looking for a school I felt like it was a family. Guys from my school are going there and then, I just bonded with the team.
"I liked the coaches a lot too. I like how they run the program and they are great coaches. They all have good backgrounds. Coach London was at Virginia already and I mostly talk to Coach Poindexter and Moore. Those two are really great guys. Their offensive line coach knows how to get linemen and the whole staff likes to have fun."
Johnson went further about his choice.
"I compared Virginia to a lot of other schools and what they do with their linemen," he said. "They get them to the next level.
"Plus, they are a great academic school, one of the best degrees you can have. It didn't hurt they aren't far from home either for my mom and little brother. It was the best school around and I think I'll fit in real well."
Johnson was recruited as an offensive tackle and believes he'll fit right in.
"I see myself fitting into that scheme with how they run the offense, it's similar to DeMatha's a lot and other stuff is like pro stuff," he said. "That should get me ready for the next level, obviously that's my goal eventually."
