Cavs lead for South Carolina OL

One of the Palmetto State’s top prospects has picked up another scholarship offer and appears to be on the verge of more.
Sumter (S.C.) standout James Thompson recently received an offer from East Carolina to go along with previous scholarships from South Carolina and Virginia.

“And it sounds like Virginia has offered me, too,” he said. “They told me they wanted to do it in person when I go back up there for camp.”
Thompson (6-5, 310, 5.2) said he’s also receiving regular interest from Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland and Wake Forest.
“Virginia is my favorite right now,” he said. “I like the atmosphere there and the combination of football and education. They have a real good graduation rate. I like the coaches up there, too. It looks like they’re going to have a real strong program the next couple of years.
“I’m looking real close at Florida, too. I like the campus environment down there. It’s really nice.”
And how does he feel about the home state programs?
“I like the coaching staff at USC,” he said. “But right now, I’m looking more toward schools out of state.”
Thompson said he plans to camp at Virginia, Tennessee and possibly North Carolina this summer.
