The Virginia Cavaliers landed a commitment from one of their top targets last night.
"Chris committed to Virginia," said Pottstown, Pa. defensive backs coach Jim Mich of star cornerback Chris Gorham. "Chris just felt very comfortable there on his visit and liked the way coach Price recruited him. He committed to them last night."
Gorham chose the Cavaliers over offers from Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Michigan State and others. He has missed the last two games of this season due to injury, but should be back soon.
"He's one of the top defensive backs and players in our region," said Mich. "He plays safety and running back for us, but UVA wants him as a shut-down corner. He has the size (6-foot-0) and speed (4.4 40) to be a terrific player."
Gorham was supposed to take an official visit to Georgia Tech, but decided to choose between the Irish and Cavaliers.
"The injury sort of slowed things down for him a bit and he decided to commit," said Mich. "He compared his two favorites and Virginia won out."
Gorham is ranked as the No. 34 cornerback in the country by Rivals.com
