Virginia stays hot with the commitment of Rivals250 linebacker Jahvoni Simmons. The Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes standout is the second linebacker to commit to the Cavaliers on Tuesday.
"I decided to go to Virginia because of the way coach (Mike) London goes about everything," said the 6-foot, 230-pound Simmons. "He's a great coach but he's also a great person. It was a great visit when I was up there and my family and I feel good about everything he was telling us. We feel like this is the best decision."
Simmons is close with a number of current Cavaliers including Quin Blanding, Andrew Brown, Taquan Mizzell, Eli Harold and many others. His relationships with those players made going to Virginia seem natural.
"It definitely played a big part," he said. "When you have so many players up there from this area you have no choice to feel like it's your home."
Simmons saw many other attractive things at the Charlottesville school.
"The academics at Virginia can take you a very long way in life," Simmons said. "It's one of the top schools in the country. Campus life is great and everybody treats you like family. I can just imagine want it's going to be like once I get on campus."
Since July 30, Virginia has picked up commitments from running back Olamide Zaccheaus, linebacker Christopher Sharp, athlete Myles Robinson and linebacker Kareem McDonald.
