Causey is likely SEC bound

Anybody paying attention at least partly expected it happen. The fact that took so long might be the only surprise. Either way, Rashard Causey decided to part ways with Florida Atlantic, to which he was committed for months, on Sunday.
Buzz began to build about a possible broken commitment when major scholarship offers from major football powers began to arrive. And now, just a few weeks before National Signing Day, the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas cornerback is taking a long, hard look at two programs.

"The top two that I can say are Tennessee and Georgia, but anybody can get into it," Causey said. "I'm open to everybody right now. Just for now, it's Tennessee and Georgia."
Kentucky is also thought to be a player in Causey's recruitment. Of the group, Georgia seems like the most likely landing spot, as there's some question as to whether or not the Volunteers will take another defensive back in this class. Of course nothing on that front is certain. What is certain, however, is that the recently uncommitted Causey likes both the Bulldogs and the Vols for a lot of the same reasons.
In this instance, there's plenty to be said for conference affiliation.
"I like that they're both in the SEC, and those schools give me a good look to play early," Causey said. "Georgia is a little closer to home, but I just want to stay in the SEC and stay south. That's what my plan is."
Causey has tentative plans to visit Georgia during the upcoming weekend and has not set a date for a possible trip to Tennessee. Things on the travel front will need to move quickly, though, as the three-star defensive back doesn't plan to be uncommitted for long. It seems this decision will not drag on past Signing Day.
"I probably want to get this done in the next week or two," Causey said.
Rivals.com ranks Causey as the No. 41 cornerback in the class of 2015. As a senior, he helped lead St. Thomas Aquinas to 15-1 record and a Florida state championship.
