Cats, Canes target juco WR

Dodge City (Kan.) Dodge City C.C. three-star receiver Kenard Burton is one of the better slot receiver candidates coming out of the Jayhawk Conference this season. The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder has gotten off to a great start this season, even though his team hasn't.
"So far I have 26 catches, 208 yards, and two touchdowns," Burton said.

Dodge City is 0-3 on the season, including tough losses to Butler County and Garden City in weeks two and three. This week Dodge City plays host to Ft. Scott, which is 1-2 on the season.
Burton is starting to emerge as one of the top receiver targets in the Jayhawk Conference.
"Kansas State and the University of Miami called," he said. "I've set up a visit with K-State for the first weekend of December. I'm going up on the first Friday of December."
The Wildcats appear to be in good shape, but an official offer hasn't been extended.
"I don't really have a front runner, but K-State is looking pretty good," Burton said. "I like the school and the coaches. So you could say they are my front-runner, but I'm leaving my options open.
"I plan on setting up more visits because a lot of schools have been calling me and wanting to see film on me. But I'll know more about Miami when they get the film on me."
What is Burton looking for in a school?
"I'm just looking for one that I can go in and play," he said. "I just want an opportunity to go in and get my degree in education. After football, I want to be a teacher. I don't really know what I want to teach right now, but I know for sure that I want to be a teacher."
