Cato doing his home work

Mansfield (Texas) Mansfield Summit two-star safety David Cato has been more of a homebody this summer. Instead of heading all over the country checking out colleges, he's stayed close to home and remained focused on getting better and ready for his senior season.
"I've been working out every day," Cato, who is 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, said. "I really have been working hard on keeping my strength up and getting in shape for the season. I don't want to have any injuries, so I'm working on getting stronger, faster and just better in everything.

"I haven't been to any camps because I'm focused on helping my team. We were playing a lot of 7-on-7 ball this summer, and that went pretty well. I also have been working hard on my ability to lead. My teammates are depending on me to lead by example this year. I'm usually a quiet person, but going out this season I'm going to have to take my leadership to whole different level."
Cato has a rather impressive list of scholarship offers. The two-star prospect has offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, North Texas, Rice, Arizona, Louisiana Tech and Purdue. He said one team sticks out on his list to this point.
"I like Iowa," he said. "They play big-time ball and they always compete for championships. Phil Parker is recruiting me, and he's a really cool guy. I'm going to take a visit up there on one of my bye weeks."
He also said that Iowa State and Wisconsin are also in line for visits too at this point.
