Catching up with Keith Nichol

Lowell, Mich., quarterback Keith Nichol committed to Michigan State during the summer of 2005 so he hasn't had a lot of recruiting attention recently. However there is no question Nichol is one of the top prospects in the Midwest.
The 6-foot-2 and 180-pound Nichol threw for 2127 yards and rushed for 871 his sophomore year. He threw for another 2100 yards and had another 1100 rushing his junior season.

As early as the spring of 2005 Lowell had scholarship offers from Michigan State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Cincinnati. More would certainly have followed had he not committed to the Spartans so early.
"It's all slowed down now," Nichol said when asked about the recruiting process. "I still get a little bit of stuff, but not much."
Nichol has begun to look ahead, at least a little.
"It would be awesome if I could go in and start as a freshman," he said. "I'm going to graduate early so I can do spring football. I'll graduate in December.
"We'll see how it goes. The coaches don't really talk about it. They just say we want to get you down here so you can compete."
