Catapano heads to the Ivy League

Just after the New Year, Bayville (N.Y.) Chaminade fullback Mike Catapano made a decision. The 6-foot-3, 234-pounder committed to the Ivy League over offers from Army, Temple and Hofstra.
"I committed on Friday to Princeton," he said. "In the beginning, I really had the AA's and Division I schools recruiting me hard. Then the Ivy Leagues came into the picture and when they did, I knew I wanted to play there because they have a balance of athletics and academics.

"I narrowed my list down to Penn, Harvard and Princeton. When I took a visit to Princeton I fell in love with the place."
Princeton is looking at the two-star prospect to change positions at the next level.
"I definitely have a great chance of starting as a freshman," he said. "They want me as a defensive end and tight end. Tight end should be an easy transition; it's just like fullback with blocking and catching the ball."
Besides his offers, Catapano claims interest from Syracuse, Duke and Boston College.
