Cason is a Cat

It is now official one of the best cover corners in southern California this season Antoine Cason (6-1, 180, 4.5) from Los Alamitos, Calif., has fallen under the spell of new Arizona Wildcat head coach Mike Stoops and has committed to the Wildcats.
Rivals.com first reported that Cason was a Wildcat just before Christmas but weren’t able to verify it at the time.

Cason told one source yesterday while practicing with the California squad that the reported story was true that he has committed to Arizona.
It has also been verified by Rivals.com’s Arizona site GOAZCATS.com and their chief football writer Chris Bonney.
Cason told Bonney this about the Stoops brothers, “They are good young coaches. They are defensive back coaches and have put quite a few defensive backs into the next level.”
“Coach (Mike) Stoops talked about who he was and where he comes from,” Cason said. “Coach Stoops told me how I fit in to the program at Arizona.”
“Coach Stoops is honest and told me where I stand,” Cason said. “He said that I fit in real well with the program.”
The Cats get a cornerback who was a blanket in coverage this season so the opposition didn’t throw many times in Cason’s area.
Even though opponents have avoided Cason this season, he still has picked off three passes. He also is a solid defender against the run as he has racked up 41 tackles from his corner spot and has an eye for the football as he has recovered two fumbles in 2003.
Besides Arizona, Cason had offers from Oregon State, Colorado and Boise State.
The Wildcats have received a huge boost along the recruiting front with the hiring of Stoops and are already receiving positive benefits from the Stoops regime.
