The sophomore out of Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett was offered by Kentucky Tuesday and Vanderbilt Friday. He is a versatile athlete who played running back as a freshman, then linebacker his sophomore season.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

THIS WEEK: "It has been a very good week for me," said Carter. "I just feel blessed. I thank God for all of this. I am very excited about and I know it is because of Him.

"I started playing football in first grade, then took a break before playing again in fourth grade. I have been playing since then, and since I was a kid, it has been a dream to grow up, play football and to see this dream unfold is amazing."

UNEXPECTED OFFERS: "Kentucky was kind of a surprise. It was kind of the same with Vanderbilt too. I took a visit to Vanderbilt a couple of months ago for a game, but that is really about it. I met have not been in contact with either school too much.

KENTUCKY: "I am a big fan of Josh Allen. He is kind of a personal role model for me. The way he plays and how dominant he is on the field really stands out. I will be visiting there next Saturday (January 26) and I want to know more about the school, their background, their academics and meet the coaches."

VANDERBILT: "I went to the Ole Miss game and that is my only visit to Vanderbilt so far. On the visit, I loved how friendly the people that work there was. It was a cool vibe there too. The Commodore Walk was really cool to me also."

IN-STATE VISIT COMING UP: "I am visiting Georgia Tech Monday and they have been showing interest. It is a top academic school and that will be a huge factor when I decide where to go, so I like that about the school. I also like coach Collins."

INTEREST FROM: "Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina State, Michigan State, LSU, West Virginia and a lot of other schools have been showing interest."

DREAM SCHOOLS: "I love Georgia. I grew up a fan. Clemson is another school I really like. I went to the Louisville game and it has a home feeling. It really pushed them up there with Georgia for me. I loved the atmosphere."

POSITION PREFERENCE: "I played running back as a freshman. Going through middle school, I was everywhere, but would say linebacker

"I am excited that I am making my parents proud. That is a big thing for me. I am very excited.

RIVALS REACTION

Temple was actually the first school to offer Carter, and that happened last spring. That there shows Geoff Collins, the new head man on the Flats knows a lot about Carter. Could the next offer be from the Yellow Jackets? Carter is actually from Chicago, but he grew up a Georgia fan. He moved down to the Atlanta area at the age of seven and quickly became a follower of the Bulldogs. Clemson had Carter on campus for the Louisville game, and after that visit, the Tigers put themselves up there with Georgia on Carter's early list of favorites. The versatile athlete had a big sophomore season and he is going to pull in many more offers. Kentucky and Vanderbilt will look very smart offering him this early when Carter's recruitment comes to an end.
