Carter Colquitt commits to Ole Miss because of the family feel

Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke is a former offensive line coach, and a well respected one. He has an eye for guys in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball and Carter Colquitt is one he offered late in February.

After taking two visits to Oxford (Miss.), Carter, a 6-foot-5, 295 pound offensive tackle out of Buford (Ga.) has committed to the Rebels.

He chose Ole Miss over NC State.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I told them (Ole Miss staff) today, and they were all fired up about it," said Colquitt. "We’re ready to start building up this team and making it a championship team. It’s all about family and the Ole Miss family is only getting stronger.

"My official visit was when I realized that Ole Miss was the place for me and I fell in love with the school. It just felt right.

"On my official visit, I got to spend a lot of time with coach Luke and coach Bicknell, which was great. They are both fantastic coaches that I’m super comfortable around and they made Oxford feel like home.

"I’m from Athens, and it has the same feel. It feels like home to me, and the coaches are great coaches and great people. They can develop me into the player I want to be.

"They offered me on February 26, and they have been pretty active in my recruiting since. I communicate with coach Luke and Coach Bicknell the most, almost daily. I also talk to coach Longo and McGriff a good bit too.

"The atmosphere is great [at Ole Miss]. The fans are loyal, and it feels like a college town. I know everyone there will support me and have my back. It’s a family.

"I’m just super excited to be a part of that program. I know that God led me to Oxford and it is the place for me. This 2019 class is going to be something special.

"This is it for me. I’m 100-percent a Rebel."

RIVALS REACTION: It is obvious that Ole Miss likes to recruit offensive linemen in the state of Georgia. They signed two in 2016, one in 2017 and another in 2018. Now they have Carter committed in the 2019 class. Carter plays for one of the top high school programs in the country. He is a winner, he will come out well prepared and he is going to be prepared to work on the next level. Carter had a long list of offers before cutting it down to two a few weeks ago. Ole Miss won out when they made him right at home during his official visit.
