Carr picks up first offer
Russell Carr of Chino (Calif.) Don Lugo is one of California's top receivers, but for one reason or another he hadn't picked up a scholarship throughout the month of May. That changed though last Saturday when he opened up his mail box to find something that still has him on cloud nine.

"I got my first offer from UTEP on Saturday," Carr, who is 6-foot-2 and 189 pounds, said.
"They came by the school earlier and watched me, and I guess they liked what they saw. I received the letter, opened it up and it said we wanted to offer you full scholarship. I was calling everybody I knew about it. It definitely was an exciting moment."
So what does Carr know about UTEP?
"I know they're picked to win their conference this year," Carr said. "The letter was from Mike Price, and he's supposed to be a very good coach. It was a big relief to finally get that first one. I'm hoping that now that people see I have an offer, more will come in."
Carr said BYU is the other team that has been showing him a lot of interest in May. Arizona State, Cal and Fresno State are a few of the other programs that have been sending consistent mail.
Carr played a little bit of everywhere as a junior.
To go along with his 450 yards receiving and two scores, he threw for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns at quarterback. He had 92 tackles, eight interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown.
