One offer has come in for Olney (Md.) Good Counsel linebacker Darien Carr. The 6-foot-0, 215-pounder landed the offer last week, but has a number of other colleges taking a look.
"I only have on offer, I got it last week from Delaware," he said. "I think I should be getting more as I'm talking to Cornell and Richmond. I think they like me. I'm planning to visit Cornell and Richmond told me they usually offer later."
In addition, Carr is in touch with a few larger schools.
"I've been talking to Virginia and Vanderbilt," he said. "I'm not sure if I'll get that Virginia offer, but I think Vanderbilt may offer at their one day camp in June.
"They saw my game film and I was only 195-pounds, so I looked a little on the small side. I've gained a lot of size since then and a lot of these coaches want to see me and my size."
Carr notes that a handful of schools stick out.
"I like Delaware and Richmond," he said. "The coaches show you a lot of love and it's a good environment. They actually care about you.
"I also went to Vanderbilt's junior day and I liked it down there. The coaches are very passionate. Coach London at Virginia is very passionate about his football program. I like Purdue too, they have recently started talking to me."
No matter what, Carr wants a few things in a school.
"I want football and an education," he said. "That is really all that matters to me that I can get a good education and play good football. I'm thinking political science or business."
Carr moved up to varsity part way into the season and finished with 50 tackles, 11 for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recovers. He managed to earn all-metro and conference honors.
He discussed his ability more.
"I think I really fill the gaps better at linebacker and I have good football intelligence," he said. "The one thing is I have only played linebacker for one year. Prior to that, my career was on the line, so I need to improve on my pass coverage and ball skills overall."
