If there is a hotter quarterback prospect on the recruiting trail than three-star Rudy Carpenter (6-3, 190, 4.7) from Westlake, Calif., we would like to who is. Though Carpenter has some set some visits, there could be some changes.
Carpenter has helped lead Westlake to a perfect 10-0 record after throwing for 2,094 yards, and 29 touchdowns while only throwing five interceptions.
Maybe the most impressive thing about Carpenter’s stats is the fact that out of the possible 40 quarters of football that Westlake has played, he has only participated in 22 of them because of blowouts.
There is no telling what Carpenter’s numbers would be if he played the entire season.
In one game this season Carpenter was 10 of 13 for 157 yards and five touchdowns. The five touchdown passes went to five different receivers.
Carpenter is one of the main reasons that Westlake stands at 10-0 and enter the playoffs as the number two seed just behind defending champion Ventura (Calif.) Saint Bonaventure (10-0).
Carpenter’s recruitment has gone in a whirlwind because of the heavy hitters that have recently entered into the fray.
“Ohio State and Notre Dame called me today (Nov. 18),” Carpenter said. “Tennessee has also been calling me.”
Other schools that have been calling are Oregon State, Washington State, Colorado, LSU, Fresno State and more.
Carpenter has already visited Wyoming and he liked the experience a lot.
“Unexpectedly, I liked it,” Carpenter said. “They have a new coaches and the program is on the rise.”
“The coaches are nice,” Carpenter said. “And I saw Cowboys get a good win against Colorado State.”
“Wyoming’s campus is real nice and it snowed while I was there,” Carpenter said. “I’m not use to the snow, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.”
Carpenter has visits set to Boise State (Dec. 20), and ASU (Jan. 9). He also has visits set to both Arizona and BYU on January 16th so there has to be some rescheduling.
Also as before mentioned, with all the activity surrounding Carpenter anything can happen.
