Carolina WR takes an unofficial visit

Wide receiver James Baldwin out of Southern Pines (N.C.) Pinecrest is sitting on one scholarship. The 6-foot-2, 181-pounder made a trip not too long ago to his sole offer.

"I've got one offer from East Carolina," he said. "I am hearing from other schools. I know Appalachian State is interested, but I'm not sure who's really recruiting me. I'm just talking to schools."

Baldwin made a trip to East Carolina three weeks ago.

"East Carolina is different," he said. "It's a very good school and a good program. This was my second trip down there. I talked to Coach Holtz and their baseball coach. They told me they'd get back in touch with me and try to work out a deal to see if I could play both. Overall the visit was good, they have a good academic school."

The two-star prospect just opened up the season on Friday with a 42-12 win. He posted three receptions for 50-yards in the victory.
