Carolina RB favors Clemson

Monroe, N.C. running back Albert Ashcraft once favored in-state schools North Carolina and NC State. Much has changed in a short period of time, with a new school landing at the top of his list.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound back runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and is one of the top five backs in North Carolina's class of 2004 crop. Who is his leader?

"I'd say Clemson is my leader now," said Ashcraft. "At one time I was really looking to stay in the state, but I'm not as concerned about that now. Clemson had that big win over FSU and it really opened my eyes. They're still a top-notch program and I think they're on the right track. Their offense is really good for guys that like to get out in the open field."
Surprisingly, the Heels and Pack weren't even mentioned in his top three.
"South Carolina and Tennessee are right up there with Clemson," he said. "South Carolina has offered, and Tennessee might when I go up there on an unofficial. They both use running backs really well and have good football environments. The SEC is a great conference, so it would be good to play against that level of competition."
Ashcraft has already taken an official visit to Clemson, and still plans on taking official trips to South Carolina and Clemson, though the dates aren't set just yet.
