Carolina OT makes a surprise decision

Recruiting is winding down for prospects around the country including Reidsville (N.C.) Rockingham County offensive tackle Justin Ward. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder turned down offers from the MAC and Conference USA to head to Elon.
"I committed to Elon on Sunday on a visit there," he said. "Marshall kind of lost interest and I didn't hear that much from them and Buffalo was real hard on me.

"But, I know around here Elon is a great educational opportunity for me. They are a real up and coming program. They had a 7-4 record this year and a lot of young talent I see myself fitting in with."
Location was a big factor for the two-star prospect.
"My parents and grandparents play a big role in my life and are real important to me," he said. "Location was a factor. I want them to come support and watch me play."
