Carolina LB names two leaders

Durham (N.C.) Southern Durham linebacker Charles Gamble has picked up offers from Clemson, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech and is regarded as one of the top players in his home state.
“Virginia Tech and South Carolina both stand out to me right now,” said Gamble, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder. “South Carolina is probably recruiting me the hardest. North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Miami are also recruiting me pretty heavily.”

What does Gamble like about his favorites?
“The coaching staff is great at Virginia Tech, I get along well with them,” Gamble said. “I haven’t had a chance to visit the campus yet, but I like everything I’ve read and heard about the university.”
"South Carolina is in the SEC and they play great competition and I like their style of play."
Gamble is a special athlete on a very talented team.
“I’ve got good speed sideline to sideline,” Gamble said. “I’m able to get to the quarterback pretty easily with my speed, and I take good pursuit angles. Our team is loaded with good players, so that makes it easier for all of us. No one can concentrate on just one guy.
"If I can improve my pass coverage skills this off-season, I think I might be able to play right away at the college level. I’d like to avoid a redshirt if at all possible.
“Graduation rates are also really important and I also want to go to a school that doesn’t have a lot of distractions.”
Gamble plans to take official visits to South Carolina and Virginia Tech this fall and will make a decision sometime after the season. He earned all-area and all-conference honors as a junior.
