Carney camps all across America

Thanks to his mother, Dallas Jesuit weakside defensive end Sean Carney got to see about every end of America this summer. Carney, a 6-foot-2, 233-pound all-area selection, attended camps at Duke, Boston College, Northwestern, Stanford and Notre Dame.
“My mother works for American Airlines, so that made things kind of easy for me,” Carney said. “I had a great time at each camp. They basically were all on the same schedule. We did some position specific drills, then one-on-ones and then some 7-on-7 and razzle-dazzle games. All of them were about the same, Stanford had me at linebacker because I guess they don’t see me at defensive end.

“The most attention that I got was at Northwestern and Boston College, but I did have meetings with the coaches at each of the schools. I think most of them are going to evaluate me during my senior season.”
With offers on the table already from Baylor, Louisiana Monroe, Wyoming and SMU, Carney said he’s also expecting offers from Ball State and Toledo based upon his performance at the Notre Dame camp. He’s also looking hard at some Ivy League schools, because of his 3.1 grade-point average and 1070 on the SAT.
“I’d be inclined to go to an Ivy League school if offers don’t materialize from my top five,” he said.
