Carnell Stewart has essentially been able pick and choose from any
school in the country during his recruitment.
His final decision, however, may boil down to another
person's opinion.
"Just right now I've been sitting down talking to my mom
about my decision," he said. "She's supporting me and leaving it up to me, of
course, but I know distance is a big factor for her. She wants me to be where
I'm close to home and she can come see me play, so LSU kind of has the upper
hand right now.
"If it's not LSU, I'd say Oklahoma State or USC would be
my other choices."
Stewart (6-6, 297, 4.75) has also been considering
Colorado and Florida among countless others. He visited USC this weekend.
"It was real nice," he said. "It was probably as nice as
anywhere I've ever been, just the scenery and all that. The players were real
laid-back and cool, too. I felt good around them. I like the coach and the direction he's taking them. The only thing that bothered
me is the distance. I don't know if I'm ready to head out that far from home."
Stewart said he anticipates making a final decision late
Tuesday night or on signing day.
