Cards to get visit from Tennessee RB

A steady dose of attention and a new conference affiliation in the making has helped Louisville grab an official visit date from one of the nation’s top-rated all-purpose backs.
Three-star Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose back Joseph Doss says he’ll make an official visit to the Cardinals on Jan. 9.

“They’ve called and talked to me a lot recently,” he said. “They said they really wanted to get me up there for an official visit, and it sounds like they’re real high on me, so I’m going to go up there with a couple of my other teammates they’re recruiting.”
Louisville is also targeting quarterback/athlete Antonio Heffner and wide receiver/defensive back Carlos Armour from Melrose. Doss said they plan to join him on the January trip to the Derby City.
“They’re a pretty good team right now, even though they’ve had a couple of bumps in the road lately,” he said. “Plus, they’ll be going into the Big East soon, so that will give them a good schedule and some exposure.”
Doss hasn’t set any of his other visits, but has offers from Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi State. LSU had indicated it would offer earlier this year, but Doss said nothing developed officially.
“I’m also looking at Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma,” he said. “Tennessee and Alabama have been staying in touch with me. I’m trying to get Oklahoma’s attention. I’ve just got mail so far from them. I thought maybe I could try and grab them instead of waiting for them to grab me.”
Doss has helped lead Melrose to a 10-1 record and the third round of the playoffs this year. He’s approaching 1,000 yards rushing for the season and has scored 19 touchdowns. Eleven of those have come in the last three games, demonstrating who Melrose has looked for in the clutch.
He's rated the No. 6 all-purpose back in the nation by Rivals.com coming off a junior season which saw him rush for 1,328 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Academically, Doss maintains a 3.7 GPA and has scored a 19 on the ACT, projecting as an easy full-qualifier.
