Cards first to offer Sprouse

Waiting for offer No. 1 to arrive wasn't fun for Damon Sprouse. Finally getting it was.
For Sprouse, an offensive tackle at Decatur (Ga.) Southwest Dekalb, that moment at long last occurred Tuesday afternoon.

"I got an offer from Louisville," Sprouse said. "I was excited. I felt kind of accomplished. I wasn't surprised. I was excited."
Besides Louisville, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound Sprouse, who carries a 3.4 GPA also is hearing from schools such as Air Force, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, South Alabama and Virginia Tech, he said.
However, as one might expect, the Cardinals are on his mind at the moment.
"I know they're good," Sprouse said. "I always watch them on TV. I don't know what kind of training they do and all that, but I like watching them. I have family in Kentucky and my mom is moving to Tennessee after I graduate anyway, so it would still be close to home. I'll definitely consider Louisville."
Sprouse, who has started only one season for the perennial Georgia power, is hopeful the first offer won't be the last.
"I think this will help," Sprouse said. "It's a big school. I figure someone out there will see that they offered me and they will offer as well."
