THE LATEST: After recent visits to Iowa State and Nebraska, Car planned to narrow his list. He prayed about his decision and decided he was ready to go ahead and make the call to commit to Houston. Car, who also attracted attention on defense, will play running back for the Cougars.
IN HIS WORDS: "Well for one thing it was close to home. I love the coaches. When I went there and visited I enjoyed their time and I felt comfortable with them. I wasn't out of my comfort zone and the coaches and I connected and that's why I made the decision. And academics it was great. They had great academics and would help me very much. That's what they told me and I feel comfortable with that."
THE FILE: Car is the 17th commitment of Houston's 2016 recruiting class. He is one of 10 commitments in the class ranked three-star or higher by Rivals.com. Carr held offers from BYU, Indiana, Iowa State, Nebraska, Oregon State, Purdue, Texas Tech, Colorado State, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas State, UTSA, and Utah State in addition to Houston. As a junior, Car rushed for 1,655 yards and 20 touchdowns on 189 carries. He also had 67 tackles, eight TFLs, and two sacks on defense.
ANALYST TAKE: Car definitely passes the eyeball test at 5-11, 195-pounds. He has an upright running style, but he is light on his feet and he is quick to change directions. His power and speed give him quick burst ability and he has also shown promise as a receiver out of the backfield.
