Caputo makes a surprise decision

Offensive guard Steve Caputo took an official visit over the weekend to Syracuse. After returning from the visit, the 6-foot-4, 315-pounder made a decision today on where he'll be headed to college.
"I just committed to Temple around 4:30 or 5 this evening," he said. "Mainly it was a gut feeling for me. I had been there several times before and everything was great.

"I love Coach Golden and the staff. I think the program is headed in the right direction and I can help them win a MAC championship and more. I like the coaches, program and where they are heading. I think I can have a big impact on the team and win some games for them."
Caputo picked the Owls over offers from Syracuse, Buffalo and Delaware. What caught his eye?
"It was probably the persistence of the coaches along with the head coach," he said. "I think they recruited me absolutely the hardest of anyone. Coach Golden took a liking to me and staff came after me. I like the direction of the program too."
The two-star prospect seems firm about his decision.
"It's the right one for me, I can tell you that much," he said. "I can help turn the program around and you'll see Temple get big publicity in the future."
As for playing time, Caputo believes he'll get a shot at guard immediately for Temple.
"It's looking good," he said. "They do have some linemen from junior college, but from talking to the coaches it seems my chance to come in and start is very good. I was their first offered lineman on the list. Coach Golden told me he wouldn't have offered if he didn't expect me to start. I just have to go in and be the best."
Meanwhile, Caputo's knee is 100% healed.
"It's great, perfect," he said. "I ended the season and played every single snap through the playoffs. I also started on defense."
