Cantrell pulls in offer from Cougars

Sugar Land (Texas) Clements offensive guard Ryan Cantrell has landed his first scholarship offer of the year.
“Ryan received a scholarship offer from Houston the other day,” Maureen Cantrell, Ryan’s mother said. “It is quite an honor for him to have a school offer a scholarship at this time of year to him.”

The 6-foot-3, 265-pound Cantrell also received another honor last week.
“He was named this week to the preseason offensive first team by the Houston Touchdown Club,” she said. “Heading into his senior year to receive an honor like that is very special.”
Cantrell spent some time this summer attending many football camps. He attended camps at Duke, Arizona, Houston, TCU and Oklahoma.
“No other schools have offered,” she said. “Some of the m have talked about it, but so far none have offered.”
“Ryan is keeping all of his options open,” she said. “It is exciting to have the attention. But he’s going to wait until this fall to make any kind of a decision. He wants to be the best he can be this fall.”
Cantrell begins two-a-day practices on Monday and then begins school on Thursday.
“The season isn’t too far away,” she said. “Then it won’t be long until the season is over.”
