Canteen looking to take a couple of visits

Three scholarship offers are already in for 2014 wideout Freddy Canteen from Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy. The 6-foot-0, 175-pounder discussed the offers and more.
"I have offers from Hawaii, Maryland and Rutgers," he said. "Those came during the off-season, around May until now. I love the offers. I thank God; it's a blessing to have them. It's early."

Maryland actually offered Canteen at camp, while the other two offered off film. He touched on the Terps first.
"I went to Maryland's 7-on-7 and that's where they offered me," he said. "They wanted to see me in person and when I went down there they fell in love. I like Maryland. I went to their practice too. It's close to home and I just like their uniforms. They stand out."
Meanwhile, what about Rutgers?
"I think Rutgers is a good family and a good type of environment," he said. "My recruiting coach is doing a really good job. I like them a lot and Rutgers is close to home as well."
Finally, only one thing is known about Hawaii at this time.
"I've never been to Hawaii, but the only thing I know is that they throw the ball a lot," said Canteen. "That's a good thing."
On top of the offers, Canteen is getting looks from the likes of UCLA, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Miami and Connecticut.
So is anyone standing out at this time?
"You know, I'm really open to any school right now," he said. "I want to play early for a school that can tell me I can come in and play right away. That's going to be a big part of making my decision. Right now though, I'm just trying to focus on my season."
Canteen is eyeing potential unofficial visits this fall to the likes of Rutgers and Maryland.
As a sophomore last year, the Maryland prospect posted approximately 700-yard receiving and eight touchdowns.
"The one thing I hear about my ability is a lot about my speed and route running," he said. "I just work on technique first and being natural from that standpoint."
