Cannon keeps Iowa State high on list

It was a winning season for Odessa, Texas offensive tackle Marcus Cannon and his senior teammates as they finished off the year 7-3, but the 6-foot-4, 287-pound tackle will not be taking in the playoffs.
Cannon, who collected his first offer from Iowa State months ago, is still hearing from several schools like Texas A&M, TCU, UTEP, and others. He has set up a few visits so that he can start narrowing things down.

"I'm going to Texas A&M around Thanksgiving (on Nov. 25) to watch them for an official visit," Cannon said. "I'm also going to Iowa State (Dec. 9) when they play Iowa in basketball for another official visit."
With the Cyclones being the only offer, the Big 12 North team has retained the leadership position for the Lone Star player.
"I haven't seen their school yet, but from just talking with coach Barney Cotton on the phone, they've held up their as the favorite," Cannon said. "We talk about everything. I mean, mostly, we just get into football and how we're doing on the year."
Cannon expects to fill out his visit sheet with a few more dates in the upcoming months. He is not ready to say when he'll make a decision.
"The time hasn't come where I'm thinking about that yet," he said. "I'm just not sure when I'll commit and make my choice. I haven't really even thought about it."
