Canes, Tigers in mix for Louisiana DL

Three-star Destrehan (La.) defensive lineman Darryl Richard has scheduled his full slate of official visits and is in the process of playing host to some big names this week.
“Miami is coming to see me tonight,” he said. “I’m waiting for coach Mark, their D-Line coach, right now.”

Richard (6-4, 285, 4.9) has also had in-home visits with LSU, Georgia Tech and Tulane in the last week. Notre Dame is scheduled to meet with him on Wednesday.
“I’ve got visits for my top five,” he said. “On the 12th (of December), I’ll be at Georgia Tech. On the 19th, I’ll be at UCLA. In January, I’ve got Miami on the 16th and LSU on the 23rd. I went to Notre Dame back in October.”
Is there a school at the top of his list?
“No, not right now,” he said. “They’re all going to be pretty even until I make my visits. But I’m kind of ready to get it over with. I wish I had time for all the visits this month.”
Asked who he would pick if he had to decide today, Richard said: “It would be too hard. I wouldn’t end up playing anywhere.”
He did acknowledge, however, that LSU has moved up considerably in his thinking on the heels of the Tigers’ SEC championship and national title run.
“They’ve been incredible,” he said. “That’s all anybody is talking about down here. You can’t get away from it.
“They have good coaches, and you can tell they’re building a program that’s going to good for a long time.”
He said that level of success is one of the factors that has him interested in Miami as well. “The potential to win and the academic programs they have for my major (sports administration) are the main things I like there.”
Richard capped his senior season with 92 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles. He's rated the No. 29 defensive tackle in the nation by Rivals.com.
Academically, he maintains a 4.6 weighted GPA and has scored a 29 on the ACT.
