Canes making push for Zellner

The stock keeps rising for three-star Sarasota (Fla.) Booker athlete Chris Zellner.
Zellner (6-2, 230, 4.58) has had in-home visits with Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Maryland, South Florida and Clemson in recent days, and will be playing host to Georgia Tech later tonight.

One of those visits led to a new offer and an official visit being scheduled.
“Coach Kehoe from Miami came to see me. They’ve offered now,” Zellner said. “They’ve always stayed in touch, but this was the first time I’ve really got a chance to sit down and talk to them a great deal about their plans for me. I liked it. They see me as a defensive end, and that’s where I’d like to play.”
Zellner plans to visit the Hurricanes on Jan. 30. He also has dates set up for Clemson (1/9) and Maryland (12/12). The other two spots will likely go to Tennessee and Ohio State, he said, but South Florida and Georgia Tech are still in the mix.
“If I visit Tennessee, it will probably be on Jan. 23,” he said. “Ohio State would probably be a mid-week visit sometime in January.”
Any leader at this point?
“Not until I make my visits,” he said. “They’re all pretty close right now. If I had to pick today, I couldn’t pick out any one school.”
Zellner helped lead Booker to a 13-1 record and the state semifinals as a senior.
